Narayan, as described in the Vishnu Purana, is the Supreme Being and the eternal source of   cosmic   creation, preservation, and dissolution of the universe. He is beyond birth and death, omnipresent, omniscient, and the ultimate reality from whom all beings emerge and into whom they ultimately return. The Purana identifies Narayan with Lord Vishnu, the sustainer of the cosmos, who manifests in various forms to protect righteousness and restore cosmic order(dharma).

According to the Vishnu Purana, Narayan resides in the divine abode of Vaikuntha and is the inner soul(Antaryami) of all living beings. He is portrayed as the compassionate protector of devotees and the supreme object of devotion and meditation. The text glorifies Narayan as the cause of all causes, emphasizing that all gods, sages, and worlds originate from His divine power. Through devotion, knowledge, and righteous living, devotees seek His grace and attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
